Mixed wood veneer on board
61 x 50 cm
2026
My work focuses on the folk-lore origins of British national identity, I’m based in South London. I work almost exclusively in wood veneer, marquetry and use wood as a material to connect to the natural world and the British countryside. I’m trying to explore the half forgotten folk memory of the long night and ritual collective tradition. I'm deeply interested in ghosts of the past that linger on in name only, the impressions that the past has left on consciousness. The use of traditional craft skills to realise my works is critical. The desired effect is a nostalgic view of the unique tapestry that makes up our place in the world. The feeling of returning home after a long absence.
Naturally my work also engages with conversations surrounding the environment, habitat loss and the changing natural landscape.
