Lian Chan’s artistic practice explores landscapes of the past and future. She creates photographic art that engages with historical narratives, geological time, and future ecologies.
Her work develops through historical research, time spent immersed in landscapes, and engagement with museum collections. Sensing what exists beyond the visible — underfoot, in the past, or projected into the future — she transforms her photographs to create alternate realities, taking the form of prints on paper and fabric, sculptural objects, and digital works.
Led by her studies at the University of Westminster, her research-based practice examines photography’s relationship with time, truth, and reality.
She was shortlisted for the Small Files Festival at The Photographers’ Gallery, London (2023) and exhibits widely, including at Wycombe Museum until February 2027. A founding member of Fractured Land Collective, she led the award-winning exhibition This Fractured Land at Discover Bucks Museum in 2024.
