Oil, cold wax & metallic paste on gesso cradled panel
60.9 x 50.8 cm
2025
In Kate’s sense-scape, we move back and forth in time, our hearts beating with the sounds and smells that assuage us from every quarter. This painting is one of a series inspired by visits to Knole Park in Kent, its surrounding woods, and its ancient fallow deer herd.
The ghostly figures in the foreground are taken from Uccello's fifteenth century painting Hunt in the Forest to which the title refers. Meanwhile, in the distance stands the white hart, messenger from the other world, and one who defies capture as it too looks back towards the medieval hunt.
Kate received a degree in Fine Art at Staffordshire University, and a Higher Diploma at the Slade School of Fine Art, London. She has a studio in southeast London.
