Acrylic on wood
76 x 64 cm
2026
For over forty years, my artistic practice has been devoted exclusively to landscape painting. I understand landscape not as a fixed reality to be reproduced, but as a space for construction, reflection and transformation.
My paintings depict places that do not exist in the real world. Skies and fragments of terrain, mountains and rock formations, drawn from different regions of Germany, France and Switzerland, originate from separate locations and moments. I bring them together according to light, colour and composition, constructing landscapes that appear plausible while remaining entirely imagined.
Observation and invention, analogue painting and digitally informed structures intersect. Against the backdrop of climate change, these constructed landscapes reflect an increasingly unstable natural world.
I am interested in the tension between familiarity and fiction, permanence and change. Landscape becomes a conceptual space in which different places, times and realities converge – a landscape that can only exist within the painting.
