Painting has to come from the soul. The joy I feel when I stand on top of a familiar hill is just the start. It is a place to outline an idea which can only really gain wings when I return to my studio. The process of painting, the joy of colour and mark are as important as the place they might represent. Ultimately I am looking for something far deeper than just shape and form. The painting has to sing.
